1. What does the D.I.Y Nail Course / Professional Nail Course mean?
D.I.Y (Do-It-Yourself) is a hobby course. The entire course is based on picking up simple techniques for beautifying your own nails.
Professional is a skilled course. The entire course is based on learning all about nails on a professional level.
From theory about nail structure and defects, to techniques on treating and beautifying other people's nails.
2. Which course is suitable for me?
D.I.Y course is for those who have some interest in nails and like to pick up simple techniques for nailart, but not sure where to start. It is also for those who wish to do their own nails at home without having the hassle to go or wait at a nail salon.
Professional course is for those who have a strong interest in the nail industry and need a headstart in learning relevant techniques and required skills. This is also most suitable for those who wish to explore into the nail industry through opening their own nail salon, start a home based/freelance business or simply go work at any nail salon. On-the-job experience will also be provided for students who take up this course.
3. What are the key differences in course modules between D.I.Y and Professional Nail Course?
a) Training method:
D.I.Y course will be taught using your own nails (i.e: using right hand to do for left hand or vice versa). Professional course will be taught using either a dummy hand or another person's nails.
b) Number of hours and Course Modules:
Professional course has a lot more hours and modules as not only theory and product knowledge are included plus techniques taught are more detailed and in-depth as compared to the D.I.Y course. For example, Professional course includes sole care and treatment, full process of pedicure whereas D.I.Y course does not have.
c) Level of skills and techniques:
D.I.Y course provides the basic skill of caring for your own nails and simple techniques on applying nailart on yourself.
Professional course provides full and in-depth knowledge as well as skills required on a professional level. Upon completion of the course, you should be able to provide professional and proper nail service to others.
4. Where are the courses held?
All courses are held in our home based nail salon at Bukit Gombak and based on a one-to-one sessions. If you like to have a friend to join in and learn together (i.e. two persons or more), only the D.I.Y course is applicable.
5. Any other areas to note?
a) Deposit:
A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required for confirmation of all nail courses. This is required for the preparation of materials for each course.
Should there be any cancellations, the deposit may be used for nail services/products.
b) Payment Mode:
Deposits may be paid via ATM transfers or Internet Banking. Balance payment for nail courses is required based on the following -
i) D.I.Y Course - Full payment on actual day upon completion of course
ii) Professional Course - 25% on first day of course and remaining 50% on the 2nd day of course
c) Certification for Professional course:
An in-house certification will be given to all students who have completed the course AND the practical examination given at the end of the course.
d) Course notes and worksheets:
Only applicable for the Professional course. For D.I.Y course students, a short summary of the course will be provided instead. All students will also be advised to bring their own book for extra note-keeping.
